Create a new data type

A data type defines the type of data to be stored and is the basis of Pipes robots. If a suitable data type doesn’t exist for your project, follow the steps below to create anew data type.

On the Projects screen:

1. Click the New drop-down.
2. Select Create new data type.
3. Name the data type.
4. Click Add field.
5. Name your field.
6. Select the checkbox in the Key column if the data type should be treated as a key for results references and sorting.
7. Select an option from the Type drop-down. For a Pipes robot, select File.
8. Add a value in the Default Value field if the data type should include a default value.
9. Click Save.
