Map models as brands or missing brands

Article summary

Some projects might only be about models from a single brand and/or could include some models that are so well-known that the brand is not usually included on the page. Examples of this are iPhone (Apple iPhone), Xbox (Microsoft Xbox), Playstation 5 (Sony Playstation 5). Other cases where this applies is when the product itself is a “no-name” brand. Ordinary things like a box of matches might not have a specified brand name anywhere on the page.

If the brand is not present on the page the mapping process is impossible to complete — you must first map the brand to map the model and mark the product as mapped. In this case you should fix the Extractor robot and make sure there is always a brand extracted.

In some cases, a simple text formatter might solve the problem — like replacing "Xbox" with "Microsoft Xbox" — and in other cases hardcoding the brand to "NoName" or something similar, essentially creating a placeholder. There should be a brand and model in either the title or in a separate brand field when the data is extracted in Product Matching.
